Job Description
The Court Security Supervisor (Grade 10) is a working manager position within the Yuma County Superior Court system. Based at 197 S. Main Street, Suite 303 in Yuma, Arizona, this role combines hands-on security duties with supervisory responsibilities.
You will lead a team of Court Security Officers, assign posts and duty stations, monitor professional conduct, and interpret security policies and directives. The position requires maintaining general security and safety across the Superior Court and Justice Courts in Yuma County.
As a working manager, you are expected to perform the full range of Court Security Officer duties as needed while providing leadership, guidance, and oversight to assigned staff.
Qualification
To qualify for the Court Security Supervisor (Grade 10) position, you must meet the minimum qualifications established by Yuma County Superior Court. The role requires a combination of education, experience, and demonstrated supervisory ability.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Three years of experience in court security, law enforcement, military police, or a related security field.
- One year of supervisory or lead worker experience.
- Possession of a valid Arizona driver's license.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance as required by the court.
- Successful completion of a background investigation, including criminal history check and credit check.
- Completion of court security officer training as prescribed by the Arizona Supreme Court within six months of hire.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR within six months of hire.
- Must meet physical requirements including standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and responding to emergencies.
Role Responsibilities
Supervise and deploy Court Security Officers to ensure optimal security coverage at assigned court facilities.
- Assign security posts and duty stations based on risk assessment and operational needs.
- Monitor security officer activities, professional behavior, and adherence to policies and procedures.
- Interpret and enforce court security policies, directives, orders, and operational protocols.
- Conduct regular security inspections of courtrooms, public areas, and restricted zones.
- Respond to security incidents, emergencies, and disturbances; coordinate with law enforcement as needed.
- Prepare and maintain security reports, incident logs, and personnel records.
- Provide on-the-job training and guidance to Court Security Officers.
- Perform the full range of Court Security Officer duties, including screening visitors, operating metal detectors, and patrolling facilities.
- Collaborate with court administration and law enforcement agencies to enhance security measures.

- Must not have any felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history.
