Job Description
The State of Hawai'i Department of Transportation, Airports Division, is seeking a Crash/Fire Equipment Mechanic to work at Lihue Airport on the island of Kauai.
In this role, you will maintain and repair aircraft crash/fire rescue vehicles, boats, and auxiliary equipment. You will also repair diesel and gasoline engines, including synchronized dual engines, fabricate parts, perform welding to modify vehicles, and construct or repair various items.
Additionally, you may repair automobiles, trucks, and heavy construction equipment.
Qualification
To qualify for this Crash/Fire Equipment Mechanic position, you must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Class A with Endorsement N (tank vehicles) and no restrictions relating to codes E, I, or L. The CDL must be valid at the date of appointment.
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

- No restrictions relating to codes E (vehicles equipped with manual transmission), I (class C vehicle over 18,000 pounds GVWR), or L (vehicles equipped with air brakes).
- Experience maintaining and repairing aircraft crash/fire rescue vehicles, boats, and auxiliary equipment.
- Experience repairing diesel and gasoline engines, including synchronized dual engines.
- Ability to fabricate parts and perform welding to modify vehicles and construct or repair various items.
- Experience repairing automobiles, trucks, and heavy construction equipment is desirable.
- Must meet all other qualifications as specified in the job announcement.
