The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System in Cleveland, OH is seeking a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (DRT) to perform radiographic procedures and examinations in the Imaging Solution. Qualification
To qualify for this Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist role at GS-5 through GS-8, you must gather basic conditions such as U.S. Citizenship, completion of a JRCERT-accredited training scheme, and ARRT certification in radiography. Advanced certification may be required for certain modalities.
- U.S. Citizenship needed; non-citizens may be appointed only when qualified citizens aren’t on offer.
- Completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology plan, evidenced by a certificate or associate degree, accredited by JRCERT or DOE-recognized accrediting agency.
- Certification in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, Radiography (ARRT) (R).
- Refined ARRT certification called for for assignments involving CT, MRI, or Mammography responsibilities performed independently.
- GS-5: No know-how beyond core requirements.
- GS-6: One year of expertise equivalent to GS-5 or one complete academic year of graduate education in radiography or related field.
- GS-7: One year of background equivalent to GS-6, or one year of graduate education, or completion of an cutting registry scheme with certification plus a baccalaureate degree.
- GS-8: One year of know-how equivalent to GS-7 demonstrating clinical competencies.
- Grandfathering provision may register for existing VHA employees in this occupation.
- Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform radiographic procedures and examinations in hospitals or clinics under the direction of radiologists and other medical officers.
- Produce radiographic studies used in medical diagnosis to locate injuries, foreign bodies, pathological conditions, or lesions.
- Arrange and administer contrast media and medications under state and federal regulations.
- Work computerized and digital radiography (CR/DR) systems and picture archiving and communications systems (PACS).
- Assist radiologists in fluoroscopic examinations.
- Practice radiation safety to minimize exposure to patients, team, and self.
- Properly pinpoint patients and use right anatomical positioning.
- Monitor patient physiologic alters during procedures and maintain radiologist informed.
- Check system operation and assess acceptable performance set on established guidelines.
- Apply tact, diplomacy, and courtesy in dealings with patients, workforce, family, visitors, and volunteers.
