Electronics Mechanic

To qualify for this Electronics Mechanic position (WG-10), you must demonstrate sufficient training or experience to perform the duties. There is no specific length of training required, but your resume must clearly show your ability to do the work. You must be a U.S. Citizen.

• Experience or training in electronics equipment assembly, installation, and repair.
• Ability to use test equipment for electronics troubleshooting.
• Skill in using hand and power tools for electronics work.
• Ingenuity and problem-solving ability for complex electronic systems.
• Ability to work without more than normal supervision.
• Experience with telecommunication equipment and cabling systems is preferred.
• Experience with security system devices and cabling is preferred.
• Experience with digital, analog, and micro-processor-controlled equipment is preferred.
• A current, valid state-issued driver's license is required.
• Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted and 80 pounds with assistance, and to climb ladders and work in confined spaces.

Install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex electronics equipment and systems.

• Interconnect system components for electronic and solid-state voice and data systems.
• Manage the running of security cables and install cabling support systems and security system devices.
• Assist with the design, testing, and commissioning of electronic systems.
• Maintain and repair complex telecommunication equipment and supporting cabling sub-systems.
• Troubleshoot complex electronic and electromechanical systems, telecommunication systems, and data circuitry components.
• Analyze and restore faulty voice and non-voice circuits.
• Repair complex telecommunication and security system components.
• Document all maintenance, repairs, installations, and checks performed on equipment and systems.
• Report work progress to the immediate supervisor.

U.S. Citizenship is required.

• Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
• Subject to a background/security investigation.
