The Environmental Protection Specialist post with Commander, Navy Installations Command at NB Coronado is located on San Clemente Island, California. You’ll organize with the Officer-in-Charge to develop and carry out environmental policy and procedure for SCI Command, Tenant, and Customer activities.

Salary & Compensation
Salary: $87,061 - $113,185 per year.
Qualification
To qualify for this GS-11 Environmental Protection Specialist role, your resume must display at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in federal service or equivalent in the personal/public sector.
Specialized know-how must contain environmental compliance media management, understanding of environmental laws and permit conditions, and problem-solving using established policies.
- At least one year of specialized expertise at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal offering or equivalent background in the confidential or public sector.
- Know-how in environmental compliance media management.
- Insight of environmental protection laws, regulations, licensing/permit needs, and precedent decisions governing environmental operations.
- Aptitude to address issues using established policies.
- In lieu of specialized experience, a Ph.D. Or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 packed years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or an LL.M. If related.
- A combination of graduate education and experience may also qualify.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Regularly arrange with the Officer-in-Charge to develop and put in place policy and procedure for resolving real or potential conflicts between SCI Command, Tenant, and/or Visitor activities and contracted CNIC/CR programs.
- Build, carry out, evaluate, and revise policy and procedure for logistic back of contracted organic and cultural asset programs.
- Organize with Southern California Offshore Variety (SCORE) schedulers routinely to facilitate access to ranges, operational training fields, and other secured spheres.
- Create inspection criteria and routinely inspect buildings and setups and associated utility delivery or discharge components.
- Keep up vigilance for unsafe, unhealthy, and/or actual or potential out-of-compliance situations associated with the complete scope of command environmental responsibilities.
- Travel from normal responsibility station to CONUS and OCONUS, such as remote or isolated sites, and travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods.
- Be away from home routinely at least three to four nights each week due to location at SCI.
- Limited weekend perform (2-3 times per year) will be needed.
Conditions & Requirements

- Must obtain and keep up an interim and/or concluding security clearance before entrance on duty.

- Must finish training, obtain, and uphold a public sector credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
