Job Description
The State of Nevada's Bureau of Mining Regulation and Reclamation (BMRR) is hiring an Environmental Scientist 3 for its Hydrology branch in Reno.
In this role, you’ll carry out technical reviews of Site Characterization Reports and Predictive Modeling Results for designated mining facilities, covering underground workings, pit lakes, and tailings. You’ll assist permit writers in drafting water pollution control permits and associated documentation located on your assess findings.
Fieldwork contains site visits to verify the validity of sent in studies, predictive models, and compliance with permit conditions. You’ll also evaluate compliance status through field observations and monitoring outcomes, and supply technical assistance for permitting actions, enforcement, or remedial actions.

Salary & Compensation
Salary: $67,296 - $100,099 per year.
Qualification
You must encounter the minimum qualifications for an Environmental Scientist 3 as defined by the State of Nevada. This normally demands a combination of education and expertise in environmental science, geology, or a related field.
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, geology, hydrogeology, geochemistry, or a carefully related field from an accredited college or university.
- Professional background in environmental science, with at least three years of post-degree know-how for the Environmental Scientist 3 level.
- Experience in hydrogeological and geochemical examine of mining-related reports and predictive models.
- Knowledge of water pollution control regulations and permitting procedures.
- Capacity to run field inspections and evaluate compliance with environmental permits.
- Powerful written and verbal communication skills for drafting technical documents and interacting with stakeholders.
- Sound driver's license and aptitude to travel to mining sites in Nevada.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform administrative and technical hydrogeological and geochemical reviews of Site Characterization Reports and Predictive Modeling Findings for designated mining facilities.
- Assist permit writers in drafting water pollution control permits and associated documentation set on technical evaluate findings.
- Carry out site visits of assigned mining facilities to decide validity of handed in studies, predictive models, and permit compliance.
- Evaluate compliance status located on field observations and monitoring effects.
- Offer technical assistance and documentation for permitting actions and aid with developing enforcement or remedial actions.
- Back Closure Branch, Regulation Branch, and Reclamation Branch personnel with assess and approval of long-term management and closure blueprints.
Conditions & Requirements
- Must be fit to obtain and maintain any needed security clearances or background inspects.
- Willingness to travel to mining sites across Nevada, including overnight stays.
- Ability to operate in field conditions, such as uneven terrain and varying weather.
