Job Description

The State of Nevada is hiring an Environmental Scientist 4 to supervise the Bureau's Data Management and Operator Certification Program in Reno, Nevada. This position provides leadership for activities that support compliance with the federal Safe Drinking Water Act and Nevada drinking water regulations.

The incumbent oversees professional, technical, and administrative staff responsible for drinking water data management, regulatory reporting, information systems, and the operator certification program. This role is ideal for an experienced environmental scientist with strong supervisory skills and a background in drinking water regulation.

Salary & Compensation

Salary: $73,310 - $109,641 per year.

Qualification

Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for Environmental Scientist 4 as established by the State of Nevada. Typically, this requires a combination of education and experience in environmental science, public health, or a related field.

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, public health, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Four years of professional experience as an environmental scientist, including one year at the supervisory level.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise the Bureau's Data Management and Operator Certification Program.
  • Provide leadership for activities supporting compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act and Nevada drinking water regulations.
  • Oversee professional, technical, and administrative staff responsible for drinking water data management, regulatory reporting, information systems, and the operator certification program.
  • Plan, direct, and evaluate program activities; establish goals, priorities, and work plans.
  • Oversee the management and enhancement of drinking water databases and information systems.
  • Administer Nevada's operator certification program.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, policies, grant requirements, and reporting obligations.
  • Provide technical expertise and policy recommendations to Bureau leadership.
  • Supervise and develop staff, assign and prioritize workloads, and supports a collaborative and accountable work environment.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of regulatory data and reports.
