Qualification

Candidates must have graduated from a standard four-year high school or possess a GED, or have completed a four-year apprenticeship program or two-year post-secondary technical school. Four years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in heating, cooling, ventilation, or the mechanical or building trades such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or plastering is required.

  • Experience in air-conditioning, heating, or refrigeration may be substituted for the required training on a year-for-year basis.
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance on HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Knowledge of maintenance areas including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, masonry, carpentry, ventilation, and renovations.
  • Ability to maintain facility grounds including mowing, trimming, and snow/ice removal.
  • Skill in maintaining detailed tool and supply inventories.
  • Ability to maintain various logs, charts, and complete purchase orders.
  • May be required to oversee inmate work crews.
  • Valid driver's license may be required.
Role Responsibilities

Perform general preventative maintenance on all HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.

  • Work in all areas of maintenance including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, masonry, carpentry, ventilation, and renovations.
  • Maintain facility grounds including mowing, trimming, and snow/ice removal.
  • Maintain detailed tool and supply inventories.
  • Maintain various logs, charts, and complete purchase orders for the department.
  • May oversee inmate work crews.
  • Perform other jobs as assigned.
