Fleet Maintenance Lead Technician

To qualify for the Fleet Maintenance Lead Technician position, you need a High School Diploma or GED and three years of journey-level automotive or diesel mechanic experience. Certain positions require ASE certification within six months, a Texas Class C driver's license, and possibly a CDL or EPA refrigerant certification.

• Some positions require Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification within six (6) months of appointment.

• Some positions require Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certification for refrigerant recovery and recycling within thirty (30) days of appointment.
• Incumbents in CDL or safety-sensitive positions are subject to drug and alcohol testing and may need to pass physical qualification exams per federal regulations.
• Some positions must pass a criminal background check and obtain/maintain federally mandated security clearance for airport work.
• MOS codes: 2T317 (Air Force), 003763 (Navy), 0411 (Marine Corps) may be relevant.

Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on city fleet vehicles and equipment.

• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
• Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and services.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts usage, and labor hours.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards.
• Assist in training and guiding junior mechanics as needed.
• Operate diagnostic equipment and specialized tools.
• Respond to emergency repair requests and road calls.

Must possess a valid Texas Class 'C' Driver's License or equivalent from another state.

• Some positions require a Texas Class 'B' CDL or equivalent.
• May need to obtain ASE Certification within six months of hire.
• May need EPA refrigerant recovery certification within 30 days.
