Job Description

The Office of Information Policy (OIP) within the U.S. Department of Justice is hiring a Government Information Specialist (FOIA and Technology) to serve as a Senior Analyst on the FOIA Compliance Staff.

This role focuses on modernizing technology platforms that support FOIA processing and reporting across the Department and, in some cases, across the federal government. You will lead initiatives that shift operations from manual paper processes to highly automated systems..

Oversee the operation and improvement of FOIA technology platforms such as Relativity FOIA and Casepoint.. And maintain OIP's web content including monitoring uptime.. Applying patches.. And performing backups.

This position is ideal for federal employees with a blend of technical web development experience and FOIA legal and compliance expertise who want to drive digital work in government transparency.

Salary & Compensation

Salary: $121,785 - $158,322 per year.

Qualification

To qualify for this GS-13 Government Information Specialist (FOIA and Technology) position, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service.

Specialized experience must meet at least two of three criteria: overseeing FOIA technology platforms, maintaining website content with patching and backups, or modernizing case tracking and redaction processes. No substitution of education for experience is permitted.

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-12 in the Federal service.
  • Experience overseeing the operation, maintenance, or improvement of FOIA technology platforms (e.g., Relativity FOIA, Casepoint).
  • Experience maintaining website content, including monitoring uptime, applying software and plugin patches, and performing automated backups.
  • Experience modernizing case tracking, document redaction, and public access to shift from manual paper to highly automated processes.
  • Must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of 08/06/2026.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Senior Analyst on OIP's FOIA Compliance Staff.
  • Modernize technology platforms that support FOIA processing and reporting.
  • Maintain OIP's web content, including monitoring uptime, applying patches, and performing backups.
  • Lead information technology initiatives and FOIA-related projects.
  • Work with developers to resolve issues with OIP's website and FOIA.gov.
  • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and improvement of FOIA technology platforms such as Relativity FOIA and Casepoint.
  • Shift case tracking, document redaction, and public access from manual paper to highly automated processes.
  • Provide technical web development expertise and FOIA legal/compliance guidance.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Serve as principal point of contact for technology issues affecting FOIA compliance.
