Job Description

FLTREADCEN EAST at Cherry Point, North Carolina is hiring a Hazardous Waste Disposer to run the protected handling, segregation, and disposal of hazardous waste. This full-time, permanent WG-6 role involves inspecting storage spheres, running forklifts and material handling equipment, and following RCRA/EPA/OSHA guidelines.

This role is best-suited for people with hands-on know-how in hazardous waste operations who are comfortable operating with chemicals, heavy equipment, and personal protective gear. No education need, but you must reveal caliber background in the screen-out elements.

Salary & Compensation

Salary: $24.98 - $29.13 per hour.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform everyday inspections of hazardous property storage fields to make sure correct accounting, identification, and storage of property.
  • Handle hundreds of various categories of waste and material characterized as sturdy, liquid, gas, flammable, corrosives, reactive, and toxic.
  • Conduct visual inspections of tanks and wipe down by hand using multiple resources to delete corrosive cleaning agents.
  • Run start-up procedures on equipment ranging from stand-alone glove boxes to substantial aircraft paint booths.
  • Perform test sampling, stabilizing, and neutralizing as called for for various sorts of material and waste.
  • Review and interpret SDS/RCRA/EPA/OSHA guidelines.
  • Run forklifts, trucks, material handling equipment, and hand utilities to separate, combine, and transport hazardous waste/material.
  • Use understanding of specialized container needs to store and ship hazardous wastes.
  • Work specialized reclamation equipment with expertise of stabilizing and neutralizing procedures.
