Job Description

The Division of Child and Family Services is hiring a Health/Human Services Professional Trainee to underfill a Psychiatric Caseworker 2 position with the Wraparound in Nevada (WIN) Program in Elko.

This is a community-based role providing intensive tiered care coordination and targeted case management to children and youth with serious emotional disturbances who have complex needs across multiple domains.

WIN uses a screening and assessment process in partnership with youth and families to determine needs and the appropriate level of care coordination.

Qualification

Applicants must meet the qualifications for a Health/Human Services Professional Trainee as defined by the State of Nevada. This is an underfill position, meaning candidates who do not yet meet the full Psychiatric Caseworker 2 requirements may be considered at the trainee level.

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a health or human services field such as social work, psychology, counseling, or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience in case management, care coordination, or direct service delivery to children and families with mental health needs is preferred but not required for the trainee level.
  • Knowledge of wraparound principles, System of Care values, and trauma-informed care is beneficial.
  • Ability to work in community-based settings including youth and family homes.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel within Elko and surrounding areas.
  • Must pass a background check as required by the Division of Child and Family Services.
  • Willingness to complete training in High Fidelity Wraparound and FOCUS models.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including some evenings or weekends as needed for family team meetings.
Role Responsibilities

Develop, coordinate, and monitor individualized plans of care for youth with serious emotional disturbances.

  • Collaborate with community service providers, schools, and other agencies to ensure integrated care.
  • Facilitate child and family team meetings to engage youth and families in decision-making.
  • Conduct screenings and assessments to determine level of care coordination needed.
  • Provide intensive care coordination using High Fidelity Wraparound or FOCUS models.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services and outcomes.
  • Advocate for youth and families to access needed resources and supports.
  • Participate in ongoing training and supervision to develop skills for Psychiatric Caseworker 2 role.
  • Travel to youth and family homes and community locations for meetings and service delivery.
Conditions & Requirements

Must be a current resident of Nevada or willing to relocate to Elko area.

  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and child abuse registry check.
  • Valid Nevada driver's license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
  • May be required to work evenings or weekends occasionally.
  • Must complete all required training within the probationary period.
