The North Slope Borough is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic - Rotational to offering, diagnose, and repair light, medium, and heavy-duty equipment across the Barrow sphere. Qualification
You must have know-how in hefty equipment repair, covering diagnostics and overhaul of engines, drive trains, hydraulics, and electrical systems. This role calls for a sound Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or the aptitude to obtain one, as it becomes subject to federally mandated testing upon obtaining a CDL.
- Experience in diagnosing and repairing light, medium, and heavy-duty equipment.
- Capacity to perform secondary and key repairs, such as overhauling engines, drive trains, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
- Expertise with preventive maintenance and daily inspections of equipment.
- Legitimate Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability to obtain one.
- Willingness to comply with federally mandated testing (pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, give back to task, and follow-up) upon obtaining a CDL.
- Supervisory background preferred, as the role may oversee apprentice workers.
- Aptitude to operate in a rotational capacity, traveling to various locations in the Barrow area.
- Understanding of safety procedures and equipment startup inspections.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Service, diagnose, and repair light, medium, and heavy-duty equipment.
- Perform slight and significant repairs, covering overhauling engines, drive trains, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
- Run everyday inspections, fueling, check fluid levels, lighting, tires, and startup and safety inspections.
- Schedule and perform routine preventive maintenance.
- Oversee apprentice workers engaged in vehicle and equipment repair function.
- Keep precise records of repairs and maintenance performed.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and federal testing needs.
- Work equipment as needed for diagnostic or repair purposes.
Conditions & Requirements
- Must be fit to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) if not previously held.
