  • Ability to work in remote Arctic conditions, including extreme cold and variable weather.
  • Physical ability to perform manual tasks associated with equipment maintenance and facility upkeep.
  • Good communication skills for reporting maintenance needs and completing daily trip reports.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
Role Responsibilities

Operate heavy equipment and other machinery in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.

  • Maintain and clear roads, airport runways, access roads, and landfill areas.
  • Inspect vehicles and equipment prior to operations; complete shift inspection checklist.
  • Maintain vehicle log, inspection forms, maintenance records, and daily trip reports.
  • Inspect and clean equipment and facility; report maintenance needs and deficiencies to supervisor.
  • Load and unload materials as needed.
  • Assist with snow removal and ice control during winter months.
  • Perform minor repairs and adjustments to equipment as directed.
  • Follow all borough policies and procedures regarding equipment use and safety.
  • Participate in safety training and meetings.

Must comply with federal drug and alcohol testing regulations, including pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, return-to-duty, and follow-up testing.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions (cold, wind, snow).
