The 63rd Readiness Division is hiring a Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer to work at Equipment Concentration Site 2 in San Antonio, Texas.

In this WG 9 role, you will troubleshoot, repair, modify, and maintain a variety of construction, industrial, combat, tactical, and power generation equipment. This includes bulldozers, graders, tractors, trucks, armored personnel carriers, tracked recovery vehicles, and forklifts.

You will remove and repair major systems such as power packs, transmissions, transfer cases, gear reduction units, injector pumps, air conditioners, fuel pumps, and alternators.

Qualification

This position is open to US citizens. You must demonstrate the ability to perform the work of a Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer without more than normal supervision. Experience can be paid or unpaid, including volunteer work through National Service programs like Peace Corps and AmeriCorps.

  • US citizenship is required.
  • Ability to do the work of a Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer without more than normal supervision (screen-out element).
  • Experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing heavy mobile equipment, including performing preventive maintenance checks and services.
  • Experience repairing, replacing, installing, or adjusting mobile equipment components and parts.
  • Experience conducting operational tests to perform final inspections.
  • No specific length of training or experience is required, but you must demonstrate sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities through your application.
  • Volunteer experience is credited equally with paid experience.
  • This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
Role Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, repair, modify, and maintain construction, industrial, combat, tactical, and power generation equipment such as bulldozers, graders, tractors, trucks, armored personnel carriers, tracked recovery vehicles, and forklifts.

  • Remove and repair major systems or components including power packs, transmissions, transfer cases, gear reduction units, injector pumps, air conditioners, fuel pumps, and alternators.
  • Make idle speed, current, brake, and transmission linkage adjustments.
  • Perform initial and in-process inspections; perform mechanical diagnostics and troubleshoot to localize defects and determine cause of malfunction.
  • Perform mechanical maintenance on defective parts and perform minor body work.
  • Provide technical assistance to unit personnel.
  • Operate motor vehicles to perform the duties of this position.
Conditions & Requirements

Active membership as a Soldier in the U.S. Army Reserve is required before a start date can be set.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination based on a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires a Personnel Security Investigation.
  • This position is subject to Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements.
  • Must obtain a Class A CDL within 180 days of employment.
  • Must pass a medical examination prior to employment.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
