Qualification

To qualify for the Investigator

  • District Attorney position, candidates must meet specific education and experience requirements as outlined by Tulare County. The role demands a combination of investigative training and practical law enforcement or criminal justice experience.

Role Responsibilities

Investigate felony and misdemeanor crimes by gathering, assembling, preserving, and reporting facts and evidence.

  • Investigate and organize major complex investigations, including major fraud, political corruption, complex homicides, and capital cases.
  • Interview victims, defendants, complainants, witnesses, and other persons who may provide information pertinent to the case.
  • Investigate psychological backgrounds in certain cases including but not limited to death penalty cases.
  • Analyze and evaluate testimony, make notes of significant points, and prepare reports of the investigation.
  • Work closely with Probation Officers, Social Service Workers, and other agencies to coordinate case information.
  • Testify in court as a witness regarding investigative findings.
  • Prepare search warrants and serve them as required.
  • Maintain chain of custody for evidence collected during investigations.
  • Conduct surveillance and undercover operations as needed.
