Job Description

The Illinois Directorate of Communications and Information Management (IL DCSIM) is hiring an IT Specialist (CustSpt) to serve as the primary Tier II technical support at the Service Desk in Springfield, Illinois.

In this role, you will be responsible for customer relationship building and problem resolution management, supporting users on equipment and software, and documenting actions in Remedy ITSM or the current work ticket tracking system.

This position is ideal for current Illinois National Guard technicians, federal employees, or applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership.

Role Responsibilities

Provide Tier II technical support at the Service Desk, focusing on customer relationship building and problem resolution management.

  • Support and guide users on installing and operating personal computers, peripheral equipment, and associated software.
  • Custom install and maintain hardware and software; investigate and resolve user equipment/system problems before referring more difficult issues to appropriate levels.
  • Document actions taken in Remedy ITSM or the current work ticket tracking system.
  • Serve as a point of information for workstation operations.
  • Receive, respond to, and ensure resolution of all types of help center calls.
  • Develop and use programs and techniques to isolate causes of problems and user errors.
  • Apply appropriate security measures consistent with approved security standards.
  • Detect damaged or lost files, optimize disk management, measure system performance, control system security, and extend system capabilities.
Conditions & Requirements

This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the Illinois National Guard and in the military grade listed (Enlisted, WO, Officer not exceeding LTC) prior to effective date of placement.

  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a trial period.
