Qualification
To qualify as a Journey Mechanicyou must have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least three years of background as a heavy-duty mechanic, preferably in a transit or fleet environment.
A sound Washington State driver's license is called for, and a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Three or more years of expertise as a heavy-duty mechanic.
- Legitimate Washington State driver's license.
- CDL preferred (Class B with air brake endorsement.
- ASE certifications (e.g., T-Series) highly desirable.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in various weather conditions.
- Proficiency with diagnostic software and instruments.
- Must pass a background review and drug screening.
Role Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections on buses and back vehicles.
- Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brake, and electrical systems.
- Apply diagnostic software to troubleshoot electronic control systems.
- Substitute or repair components such as alternators, starters, and compressors.
- Retain correct records of repairs and sections usage.
- Support with road calls and emergency repairs as needed.
- Confirm all perform meets safety and standard standards.
