LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE 2

To qualify for the Licensed Practical Nurse 2 position, you must hold a current license as a Practical Nurse in the State of Nevada. Experience in a correctional or similar secure setting is preferred but not required.

• Current license as a Practical Nurse in the State of Nevada.
• Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing.
• Experience in a correctional, psychiatric, or acute care setting preferred.
• Knowledge of nursing principles, techniques, and procedures.
• Ability to administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Skill in conducting health assessments and monitoring vital signs.
• Ability to maintain accurate and confidential medical records.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a secure, high-stress environment.
• Basic life support (BLS) certification preferred.

Administer prescribed medications and treatments to inmates.

• Conduct routine health assessments and monitor vital signs.
• Assist with intake screenings and sick call evaluations.
• Respond to emergency medical situations and provide nursing interventions.
• Maintain accurate and confidential medical records.
• Educate inmates on health management and disease prevention.
• Support chronic disease monitoring and follow-up care.
• Collaborate with Registered Nurses, Physicians, and correctional staff.
• Adhere to nursing protocols, state regulations, and correctional policies.
• Ensure the safety and security of patients and staff at all times.

Must possess a valid Nevada Practical Nurse license.

• Must be able to pass a background check and security clearance.
• Must be able to work in a correctional facility environment.
• Must be able to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be available to work shifts including weekends and holidays.
• Must comply with all facility policies and procedures.

This position is located at High Desert State Prison in Indian Springs, NV.

• The salary range is $56,564
• $83,186 per year, based on experience.
• This is a full-time position with a continuous recruitment period.
