Job Description
The State of South Carolina is hiring a Lieutenant for the Prisma Hospital Security Team at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in Columbia (Richland County).
This full-time position oversees subordinate security personnel and manages the custody and control of inmates assigned to the hospital.
You will ensure the safety of hospital staff, property, and inmates, conduct routine security checks, assist with inmate admissions, and investigate complaints or violations.
Qualification
Candidates must have a high school diploma and relevant experience. A bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience. SCDC requires a high school diploma and three years of experience in correctional or security work.

Role Responsibilities
Supervise subordinate security personnel assigned to Palmetto Health Richland Hospital.
- Oversee the custody and control of all inmates assigned to the hospital.
- Assume primary responsibility for security of hospital staff and property.
- Conduct routine checks of all rooms housing inmates to ensure proper and safe performance of duties.
- Assist with all inmate admissions into the hospital.
- Investigate complaints, violations, and arbitrate disputes among inmates, correctional staff, and hospital personnel.
- Report to the hospital captain and carry out general supervision duties.

Must be able to complete eight weeks of SCDC Basic Training.

- Must be able to work full-time hours as scheduled.
