Qualification

Applicants must clearly demonstrate on their completed application that they meet the minimum qualifications. This is a multi-departmental classification; specific experience operating light and heavy equipment is required.

  • Experience operating motor graders, skid-steers, bulldozers, backhoes, skip loaders, and dump trucks.
  • Ability to operate specialized equipment such as water pumps, flush trucks, power trenchers, aerial trucks, disc and landscape blades, flail mowers, lawn aerators, post hole diggers, concrete saws, pulvi-mixers, three and seven gang mowers, seeders, and fertilizer spreaders.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to perform semiskilled work under general supervision.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor in outdoor settings.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in park maintenance or construction is desirable.
  • Must be able to work full-time schedule.
Role Responsibilities

Operate motor grader, skid-steer, or bulldozer for leveling and rough grading in parks.

  • Operate backhoe for removing concrete and rough grading.
  • Operate skip loaders to load materials into trucks.
  • Drive 10-yard dump trucks to transport building and construction materials.
  • Operate water pumps, flush trucks, power trenchers, and aerial trucks.
  • Operate disc and landscape blades, flail mowers, lawn aerators, and post hole diggers.
  • Operate concrete saws, pulvi-mixers, three and seven gang mowers, seeders, and fertilizer spreaders.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Valid California driver's license and acceptable driving record.

  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays as needed.
