Job Description

Rock County's Department of Public Works is seeking a skilled Maintenance Tech to perform a variety of maintenance tasks across county facilities.

You will troubleshoot, maintain, and repair equipment and systems including direct digital controls, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, electrical, plumbing, building services, and grounds. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in multiple trades who enjoys problem-solving and working independently.

You will be responsible for keeping county buildings safe, functional, and efficient.

Qualification

Applicants should have experience in at least two of the following areas: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or building maintenance. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with a valid driver's license. Additional technical training or certifications are a plus.

  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in various weather conditions.
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime or on-call shifts.
Role Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair HVAC systems including boilers, chillers, cooling towers, and air handlers.

  • Repair electrical and pneumatic controls, sensors, and low voltage relays.
  • Perform plumbing repairs on sinks, toilets, faucets, flushometers, and piping.
  • Maintain building grounds including snow removal, lawn care, and general upkeep.
  • Inspect and maintain fire safety systems and equipment.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests and perform on-call duties as needed.
  • Keep accurate records of work performed and parts used.
  • Assist with minor construction and renovation projects.
