This role leads a team responsible for accurately evaluating and accounting for the financial impacts of bank failures on the Deposit Insurance Fund (DIF) and FDIC corporate financial statements. The manager monitors resolution activities, coordinates liquidation and receivership accounting, and ensures the integrity of financial data processes.
This position is ideal for experienced accounting leaders with a background in financial institution resolution or receivership accounting who want to apply their expertise in a public service federal environment.
Qualification
To qualify, you must meet the basic education requirement and possess leadership and technical experience. The basic requirement is a degree in accounting or a related field with 24 semester hours in accounting (including up to 6 hours of business law)..
Or a combination of education and experience with at least 4 years of accounting experience and either 24 semester hours in accounting.. A CPA/CIA certificate.. Or equivalent.
- Degree: Accounting; or a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. Up to 6 hours of business law may count toward the 24 hours.
- Combination of education and experience: At least 4 years of accounting experience, or equivalent, plus one of: 24 semester hours in accounting/auditing, a CPA or CIA certificate, or completion of a degree with substantial accounting coursework (e.g., 15 semester hours) plus full-performance level experience and a panel determination.
- Leadership Experience: Leading and coordinating projects, establishing expectations, reviewing work, monitoring progress, and providing guidance and feedback to team members.
- Technical Experience 1: Managing financial accounting processes, system environments, and reporting activities to ensure accurate and reliable organizational financial information.
- Technical Experience 2: Applying and coordinating accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements across organizational units and providing guidance on financial system functionality and operational accounting issues.
- Technical Experience 3: Analyzing accounting transactions, assessing financial outcomes, and communicating findings to decision-makers.
- Experience may be gained in the private or public sector, including volunteer work through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps).
- All qualifying experience, including volunteer work, will be credited.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and direct all activities of the Resolution Valuation & Analysis Section.
- Serve as a key member of the Division of Finance management team, assisting in developing and implementing division policies and procedures.
- Assist the Deputy Director, Controller, in directing the overall planning and timely execution of the division's subsidiary accounting and resolution activities.
- Lead a staff of accountants, supports effective communication, implement organizational changes, and build internal and external relationships.
- Establish and maintain the Corporation's financial data processes to capture and properly account for financial activities according to established accounting and reporting standards.
- Ensure a unified, reliable, secure, and fully functional systems environment for FDIC Corporate and receivership financial systems.
- Monitor resolution activities and coordinate on liquidation and receivership accounting impacts on FDIC Corporate financials.
- Function in an adaptable, results-oriented work environment.
