County of Santa Clara is hiring a Medical Assistant to perform specialized and routine clinical duties in ambulatory care settings throughout Santa Clara County.
Under the clinical supervision of a Registered Nurse or licensed Physician/Podiatrist, you’ll prepare patients for examinations, obtain vital signs, verify referral information, and grab thorough histories.
You’ll also keep up examination rooms and nurses stations, order supplies, transport specimens, wash and package instruments, and retain emergency trays updated. Operate in this role includes instructing patients on simple procedures, hygiene, exercise, diet, and other elementary instructions given by the physician, as well as dispensing educational materials.

Qualification
You must encounter the employment standards for Medical Assistant as defined by the County of Santa Clara. Qualified applicants will be invited to an online examination tentatively scheduled for the week of August 17, 2026.
- Completion of a recognized Medical Assistant training plan or equivalent experience.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
- Insight of medical terminology, vital signs measurement, and patient preparation procedures.
- Capacity to maintain examination rooms, stock supplies, and deal with specimen transport.
- Experience with electronic health records and medical record control.
- Sturdy communication abilities for patient instruction and interaction with clinical staff.
- Aptitude to perform in a fast-paced ambulatory care environment.
- Sound CPR certification (BLS) required.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examination by draping, obtaining vital signs, verifying referral information, and taking comprehensive history.
- Keep up examination rooms and nurses stations, such as ordering supplies, transporting specimens, washing and packaging instruments, and changing answers.
- Hold Emergency Tray updated and supplies stocked in correct locations.
- Instruct patients in easy procedures/tests, hygiene, exercise, diet, and other fundamental instructions given by the physician.
- Dispense suitable educational materials so patients grasp procedures/diagnoses.
- Wrap up charge sheets and confirm they’re given to the fitting clerk for processing.
- Uphold medical record control and guarantee records are reviewed and returned to right filing.
- Support with secondary procedures as directed by the physician or nurse.

- Must be fit to pass a background inspect and drug screening.
- Valid California driver's license may be needed for travel between clinic sites.
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 25 pounds regularly.
- Must comply with HIPAA and patient confidentiality regulations.
- Availability to function full-time schedule, covering doable evenings or weekends.
