The Nevada Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is hiring a Mental Health Counselor 1 underfilling a Mental Health Counselor II position at the Pahrump Child Welfare Office.
In this role, you will provide Intensive Family Services (IFS) to families involved with the child welfare system in rural Nevada.
Services are delivered in-home and are family-centered, including counseling, skill-building, supportive services, advocacy, mental health assessments for children and their parents, and clinical case management for complex, high-risk families.
Qualification
To be eligible, you must hold one of the following Nevada licenses: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselor (LCADC), or Licensed Practicing Counselor (LPC). This is an underfill position, meaning candidates who meet the licensure requirement may be considered at the Mental Health Counselor 1 level with the opportunity to advance.
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselor (LCADC), or Licensed Practicing Counselor (LPC) in Nevada.
- Experience providing counseling, case management, and direct clinical services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled, or emotionally disturbed clients.
- Ability to work in an outpatient, residential, community, or home-based setting.
- Experience with intensive family services and child welfare populations preferred.
- Knowledge of mental health assessment and diagnosis for children and adolescents.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to client homes in rural areas.
Role Responsibilities
Provide intensive, in-home family-centered services including counseling and skill-building.
- Conduct mental health assessments for children and their parents.
- Develop and implement treatment plans for complex, high-risk families.
- Provide clinical case management and coordinate services with community partners.
- Offer advocacy and supportive services to families involved with child welfare.
- Provide diagnoses to children in custody to facilitate access to appropriate services.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and case records.
- Participate in team meetings and supervision.
Conditions & Requirements
