Physician (Regular Ft)

To qualify for this Physician position (VM 15), you must meet basic requirements including U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens may be appointed if qualified citizens are unavailable), a Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine degree from an approved school, a current full and unrestricted license, and completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited residency.

• U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may be appointed only when qualified citizens cannot be recruited.
• Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a school accredited by the LCME or COCA for the year of graduation.
• Foreign medical graduates must have ECFMG certification or meet ECFMG eligibility requirements.
• Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
• Completion of residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs (ACGME or AOA accredited).
• Non-U.S. residency training followed by at least five years of verified practice in the U.S. may be accepted.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Preferred: Internal Medicine or Family Medicine residency training and board eligibility.
• Preferred: Board certification and 2+ years of primary care clinic experience; new residency graduates considered.
• Residents currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA programs may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) if fully licensed.

Provide primary care services to Veterans in an outpatient clinic setting.

• Diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical conditions.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and procedures.
• Prescribe medications and manage treatment plans.
• Coordinate care with specialists and other healthcare providers.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical records.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety activities.
• Supervise and teach medical students and residents as needed.
• Adhere to VHA policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines.
• Participate in on-call coverage as required.

• Subject to urinalysis drug testing prior to appointment.
• Selective Service Registration for males born after 12/31/1959.
• Must be proficient in written and spoken English.

• Participation in seasonal influenza vaccination program required.
• May be required to serve a probationary period.

Competitive salary of $255,000 per year.

• Annual performance bonus and regular salary increases.
