You will serve as a POLICE OFFICER for the NAVBASE SAN DIEGO SEC DET at Naval Base San Diego, California. This role involves performing traffic law enforcement using radar and breathalyzer equipment, conducting investigative stops, and enforcing laws and regulations.

Qualification

To qualify for this GS-3/4 POLICE OFFICER position, your resume must demonstrate at least 6 months of general experience and 6 months of specialized experience at the GS-03 level or equivalent. Specialized experience includes independently handling law enforcement duties, investigating minor crimes, managing traffic incidents, and implementing anti-terrorism and physical security techniques.

  • Experience exercising judgment in resolving common incidents.
  • Experience implementing anti-terrorism, physical security, and investigative techniques for preliminary inquiries.
  • Completion of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Uniformed Police Training Program is a condition of continued employment.
  • Education substitution: GS-04 requires 2 years above high school; GS-03 requires 6 months general experience combined with 1 year above high school.

Role Responsibilities

Perform traffic law enforcement using radar, breathalyzer, and other specialized equipment.

  • Conduct investigative stops, question, detain, and take appropriate action to resolve incidents.
  • Use computer systems and web-based law enforcement programs to query vehicle registrations and law enforcement data.
  • Perform force protection, anti-terrorism, and sentry duties at installations with significant assets and large populations.
  • Operate, monitor, and assess sensor systems for the command.
  • Defend installation personnel, equipment, and resources from terrorist threats or hostile attacks.
  • Enforce laws and regulations with progressively less supervision.
  • Support higher-level investigations through preliminary inquiries.
