The National Cemetery Administration is hiring a Program Specialist for the Cheyenne National Cemetery in Cheyenne, Wyoming. This full-time, permanent GS-9 position supports cemetery operations through public outreach, ceremony preparation, and administrative tasks.

Qualification

Current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07 level. A valid state driver's license and the ability to type at least 40 words per minute are required.

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-07, including scheduling, using word processing and spreadsheet software, drafting correspondence, processing incoming/outgoing materials, operating automated systems, and addressing customer needs.
  • OR a master's or equivalent graduate degree, or two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or an LL.B. or J.D. if related.
  • OR a combination of graduate education and specialized experience that totals 100% of the requirement.
  • Time-in-grade: Current federal employees must have held a GS-07 for at least 52 weeks within the past 52 weeks.
  • Ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
  • Valid state driver's license.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Selective Service registration for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Subject to background/security investigation and random drug testing.
  • May be required to serve a 1-year probationary period.
Role Responsibilities

Receive general supervision from the Assistant Cemetery Director and establish work priorities for caretaker technician duties.

  • Seek advice on significant issues pertaining to columbarium incumbents, niche placement, and contract work.
  • Participate in local community outreach activities, Memorial Day ceremony preparation, and other ceremonies.
  • Provide information on cemetery activities to support groups, veteran service organizations, VA partners, and congressional liaisons.
  • Prepare correspondence and documents for the Fort Logan National Assistant Cemetery Director regarding Wyoming cemeteries.
  • Perform public outreach as needed.
  • Work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
