Job Description
The City of El Paso is hiring a Public Health Senior Safety Specialist to develop, implement, and monitor occupational health and safety initiatives.
Under general supervision, you will conduct safety inspections, deliver staff training, support regulatory compliance, and promote a safe working environment across various city locations.
This role is ideal for safety professionals with a background in occupational safety, environmental health, public health, risk management, industrial hygiene, business, or public administration.
Qualification
Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree or higher in Occupational Safety.. Environmental Health.. Public Health.. Risk Management.. Industrial Hygiene.. Business or Public Administration.. Or a related field.. Plus two years of experience implementing occupational health and safety or risk mitigation programs.
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Public Health, Risk Management, Industrial Hygiene, Business or Public Administration, or a related field.
- Two (2) years of experience implementing occupational health and safety or risk mitigation programs.
- Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state by the date of appointment.
- MOS Code: 035 (Coast Guard), 8012 (Marine Corps), 1S011 (Air Force), 2740 (Navy)
- military experience may be considered.
Role Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and monitor occupational health and safety initiatives.
- Conduct safety inspections and audits of city facilities and work sites.
- Develop and deliver safety training for staff and supervisors on ergonomics, workplace safety, hazardous material handling, infection control, emergency response, bloodborne pathogens, and driving safety.
- Prepare lesson plans and review training content for clarity, relevance, and regulatory compliance.
- Support regulatory compliance efforts with federal, state, and local safety standards.
- Promote a safe working environment through hazard identification and risk mitigation.
- Coordinate and conduct training sessions as needed.
- Maintain records of inspections, training, and incidents.
Conditions & Requirements
Must pass a background check and drug screening.
- Ability to work in various locations within the City of El Paso.
- May be required to work occasional evenings or weekends for training events.
