Job Description
The City of El Paso is hiring a Public Health Senior Safety Specialist to develop, put in place, and monitor occupational health and safety initiatives. Under general supervision, you’ll run safety inspections, hand over workforce training, back regulatory compliance, and advance a secure functioning environment across various metro locations.
This role is perfect for safety professionals with a background in occupational safety, environmental health, public health, threat management, industrial hygiene, company, or public administration.
You’ll arrange training sessions on ergonomics, workplace safety, hazardous material handling, infection control, emergency response, bloodborne pathogens, and driving safety. You’ll also prepare lesson schemes and assess training material for clarity and regulatory compliance.
If you’ve at least two years of background rolling out occupational health and safety or hazard mitigation programs and keep a Bachelor's degree in a related field.. This role provides an opportunity to make a tangible effect on employee safety across El Paso.
Salary & Compensation
Salary: $55,966 - $69,958 per year.
Qualification
You must have a Bachelor's degree or higher in Occupational Safety.. Environmental Health.. Public Health.. Danger Management.. Industrial Hygiene.. Enterprise or Public Administration.. Or a related field.. Plus two years of expertise carrying out occupational health and safety or threat mitigation programs.
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Public Health, Hazard Management, Industrial Hygiene, Business or Public Administration, or a related field.
- Two (2) years of know-how rolling out occupational health and safety or danger mitigation programs.
- Legitimate Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state by the date of appointment.
- MOS Code: 035 (Coast Guard), 8012 (Marine Corps), 1S011 (Air Force), 2740 (Navy) – military experience may be considered.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Grow, carry out, and monitor occupational health and safety initiatives.
- Carry out safety inspections and audits of town facilities and perform sites.
- Build and provide safety training for team and supervisors on ergonomics, workplace safety, hazardous material handling, infection control, emergency response, bloodborne pathogens, and driving safety.
- Arrange lesson blueprints and examine training content for clarity, relevance, and regulatory compliance.
- Aid regulatory compliance efforts with federal, state, and area safety standards.
- Promote a protected operating environment through hazard identification and threat mitigation.
- Organize and run training sessions as needed.
- Uphold records of inspections, training, and incidents.
