Job Description
The Salem VA Medical Center is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Ambulatory Surgery Unit. In this role, you’ll provide pre-operative and post-operative care to Veterans, covering nursing assessments, IV insertion, medication administration, and patient education.
You’ll work as part of a multidisciplinary team to make sure safe, high-quality surgical care. This role is best-suited for RNs with expertise in perioperative nursing who desire to cater to those who served.
Qualification
To qualify, you must be a U.S. Citizen proficient in English, a graduate of an accredited nursing scheme (ACEN or CCNE), and grip an active, unrestricted RN license.
- U.S. Citizenship called for; non-citizens may be appointed only if no qualified citizens are on offer.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English per 38 U.S.C. 7403(f).
- Graduate of a expert nursing plan accredited by ACEN or CCNE at the time of completion.
- Existing, packed, active, and unrestricted RN license in a U.S. State, territory, or the District of Columbia.
- Graduates of foreign nursing schools must have a present, complete, active, and unrestricted registration; higher education needs equivalency validation (e.g., ICD).
- Master's level bridge scheme students may be appointed temporarily upon attaining RN licensure, then converted to permanent after plan completion.
- Grade determination set on education and background: Nurse I (Levels I-III), Nurse II, or Nurse III.
- Preferred know-how: Endoscopy and sedation nursing.
- Volunteer perform is credited as qualifying experience.
- All you must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening.
Role Responsibilities
Perform pre-operative nursing assessments, such as consent and H&P validation.
- Launch intravenous fluids and support with peripheral nerve blocks.

- Administer medications as ordered.
