The City of El Paso is hiring a Sanitarian Specialist to safeguard public health through inspections, investigations, and sampling of food, water, and sewage facilities. Functioning under general supervision, you’ll enforce health regulations and respond to citizen complaints.

Salary & Compensation
Salary: $49,754 - $62,192 per year.
Qualification
You must keep a Bachelor's Degree or higher with at least 30 semester hours of elementary or applied science. A Texas Sanitarian-in-Training registration is needed within six months of appointment, and a valid Texas Class C Driver's License (or equivalent from another state) is needed.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Carry out investigations, inspections, and sampling of food establishments, water supplies, and sewage facilities.
- Assist a licensed sanitarian in health-related inspections within an assigned jurisdiction.
- Investigate complaints from citizens and other agencies about health hazards.
- Gather samples of food solutions, water, and sewage for laboratory analysis.
- Inspect establishments for compliance with state and nearby regulations.
- Spot health hazards and advise issuance or denial of permits to work.
- Get ready written reports on inspection findings and enforcement actions.
- Enforce applicable laws, ordinances, policies, and procedures.
Conditions & Requirements
- Must obtain Texas Sanitarian-in-Training registration within six months of appointment.
- Aptitude to function in various locations within the City of El Paso.
- May need physical capacity to conduct field inspections and round up samples.
