The City of El Paso is hiring a Sanitarian Specialist to protect public health through inspections, investigations, and sampling of food, water, and sewage facilities. Working under general supervision, you will enforce health regulations and respond to citizen complaints.

Qualification
Applicants must hold a Bachelor's Degree or higher with at least 30 semester hours of basic or applied science. A Texas Sanitarian-in-Training registration is required within six months of appointment, and a valid Texas Class C Driver's License (or equivalent from another state) is necessary.

Role Responsibilities
Conduct investigations, inspections, and sampling of food establishments, water supplies, and sewage facilities.
- Assist a licensed sanitarian in health-related inspections within an assigned jurisdiction.
- Investigate complaints from citizens and other agencies regarding health hazards.
- Collect samples of food products, water, and sewage for laboratory analysis.
- Inspect establishments for compliance with state and local regulations.
- Identify health hazards and recommend issuance or denial of permits to operate.
- Prepare written reports on inspection findings and enforcement actions.
- Enforce applicable laws, ordinances, policies, and procedures.
