Job Description

The City of Morgan Hill is hiring a Senior Planner to lead professional activities within the Development Offerings Department. You’ll serve as project manager for present planning, long-range planning, unique studies, and environmental evaluate.

Salary & Compensation

Salary: $135,372 - $177,924 per year.

Qualification

You must have substantial background in land use planning, including project management and environmental examine. A bachelor's degree in urban planning or a related field is usually called for, with a master's degree preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee existing planning projects such as subdivisions, site blueprints, and conditional apply permits.
  • Lead long-range planning efforts such as general scheme updates and particular schemes.
  • Carry out environmental review under CEQA, covering getting ready initial studies and EIRs.
  • Provide technical assistance to the public, developers, and city boards.
  • Prepare staff reports, ordinances, and resolutions for Planning Commission and Metro Council.
  • Organize with other town departments and external agencies on planning matters.
  • Oversee or mentor junior planning staff as assigned.
  • Represent the metro at community meetings and public hearings.

Conditions & Requirements

  • Full-time position with occasional evening or weekend function for meetings.
  • Must pass a background inspect and pre-employment physical.
  • CalPERS retirement membership: 2.5% @ 55 for Classic participants, 2% @ 62 for PEPRA participants.
  • Probationary period of 12 months.
  • May need travel within the town for site inspections.
