Sheriff's Protective Services Officer

Candidates who meet the employment standards will be invited to take an online examination tentatively scheduled to open September 17, 2026. Qualifying candidates will be notified via email with instructions for taking the examination.

• Ability to pass an online examination as part of the selection process.
• Ability to pass a physical agility test scheduled for October 24, 2026.
• Must be alert and able to detect security breaches and suspicious activity.
• Ability to prepare accurate and concise reports consistent with departmental policy.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with the public and law enforcement.
• Valid driver's license or ability to obtain one may be required.
• Must be able to work various shifts including weekends and holidays.

Patrol assigned areas to detect and deter criminal or suspicious activity.

• Document and report observations to appropriate authorities.
• Log security events and maintain accurate records.
• Warn violators of rules and regulations and take appropriate action.
• Direct and assist persons conducting business at County facilities.
• Secure and protect property owned, operated, or administered by the County.
• Respond to alarms and emergencies as needed.
• Prepare detailed reports on incidents and security breaches.

Must be able to pass a background investigation.

• Must be able to pass a physical agility test.
• Must be able to work full-time hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
• Must be able to work in various weather conditions.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain any required certifications.

Competitive salary range of $74,194

• $89,573 per year.
