Job Description

The Nevada Army National Guard is hiring a Social Worker (GS-12) to serve as a key member of the behavioral health team in Carson City, NV. This position focuses on promoting psychological health and readiness among National Guard members and their families through preventive, remedial, and support services.

As the Social Worker, you will develop and execute annual behavioral health program strategies, establish standard operating procedures, and lead psychological health promotion and evaluation activities. You will work to reduce stigma around mental health, build community partnerships, and expand available resources for soldiers and families.

This role is ideal for an experienced clinical social worker who understands military culture and wants to make a direct impact on service member well-being. You will serve as the primary advisor on marketing psychological health programs and forging connections with military and community groups.

Salary & Compensation

Salary: $99,218 - $128,987 per year.

Qualification

To qualify for this GS-12 Social Worker position.. You must possess a master's degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited institution.. A current unrestricted state license to practice clinical social work independently.. And at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level.

  • Master's degree in Social Work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) is required. Substitute degrees will not be accepted.
  • Must possess a current, unrestricted state license to practice clinical social work independently.
  • General Experience: Master's degree in social work with a practicum.
  • Specialized Experience: At least 1 year (24 months) of experience in clinical social work assignments equivalent to the GS-11 level. The Air Force Social Work Internship Program may substitute for 12 months of this requirement.
  • Specialized experience must demonstrate knowledge of social work theories, principles, techniques, and resources; interviewing to establish nature and extent of problems; helping clients develop improvement plans; providing assistance and referrals; and assisting clients to understand and modify behavior.
  • No other substitution of education for specialized experience is allowed beyond the stated internship substitution.
  • Resume must fully substantiate (in your own words) that you meet the specialized experience requirements. Do not copy from the vacancy announcement or position description.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support the psychological health team in developing and executing an annual behavioral health program strategy.
  • Determine program priorities, identify gaps, and establish means to meet annual goals.
  • Develop and annually review written standard operating procedures governing the behavioral health system of care.
  • Lead psychological health promotion, implementation of behavioral health programs, and evaluation activities.
  • Formulate strategies to generate interest, acceptance, and participation from organizational partners, community partners, and NG soldiers and family members.
  • Serve as primary advisor on methods to reduce stigma and market psychological health programs.
  • Develop relationships with military and community groups to enhance prevention efforts and expand behavioral health resources.
  • Build networking processes and a community provider directory.
  • Develop an extensive array of behavioral health resources, associations, and community partnerships to support NG soldiers and families.
  • Participate in community activities to build prevention efforts, influence community problem-solving, and forge connections that promote psychologically healthy lifestyles.

  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968; conviction of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may disqualify.

  • Must have a valid state driver's license if the position requires operating motor vehicles.
