Qualification
To qualify for the Soil & 2 Testing Technician I (SR-11) role, you must gather the education and background needs specified by the City and County of Honolulu. This is an entry-level role, and training will be offered.
- Graduation from high school or equivalent.
- One year of know-how in construction, laboratory, or materials testing operate may be substituted for the education condition.
- Aptitude to grasp and perform standardized tests on soil, aggregate, concrete, and asphalt.
- Capacity to get ready test reports and uphold chain-of-custody documents.
- Sound driver's license and aptitude to run a motor vehicle to travel to various position sites.
- Willingness to function in a laboratory environment with exposure to chemicals and lifting materials.
- Must be capable to pass a background review and drug screening as required by the metro.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Pick up and aid with laboratory testing of soil, aggregate, concrete, and asphalt under sector standards.
- Arrange test reports, documentation, and chain-of-custody documents.
- Assist experienced technicians with field testing to offer figures for in-situ site conditions.
- Keep up laboratory facilities and equipment.
- Work a motor vehicle to and from offices, job sites, and field locations.
- Abide by safety protocols and deal with chemicals and materials properly.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned related to 2 and material testing.

- Legitimate driver's license needed.
- Ability to lift and bear up to 50 pounds.
- Willingness to perform outdoors in various weather conditions for field testing.
