Special Districts Planning Technician

Candidates should be detail-oriented professionals with experience in planning, permitting, or coordination of landscape maintenance districts. The role requires strong problem-solving skills, technical information management, and excellent customer service.

• Experience in planning, permitting, or coordination of landscape maintenance districts or similar special districts.
• Ability to work collaboratively with City staff, developers, contractors, and the public.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in managing technical information and documentation.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Knowledge of municipal or public works processes is preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Valid California driver's license may be required.

Support the planning, permitting, and coordination of the City's Landscape Maintenance Districts.

• Collaborate with City staff, developers, contractors, and the public on district-related projects.
• Process permits and ensure compliance with district regulations.
• Maintain accurate records and technical documentation.
• Provide exceptional customer service to residents and stakeholders.
• Assist in project management and coordination of maintenance activities.
• Prepare reports and presentations as needed.
• Participate in public meetings and community outreach.

Full-time position with standard work hours.

• May require occasional evening or weekend work for meetings or events.
• Must pass a background check and possibly a physical exam.
• Probationary period as per City policy.
• Compliance with City of Santa Maria employment policies.

Competitive salary range of $58,868

• $71,555 per year.
