The Fraud Detection and National Security Directorate (FDNS) at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is hiring a Supervisory Immigration Officer to lead efforts in combating fraud and protecting national security.

This GS-14 position is based in a location negotiable after selection and reports to a Branch Chief within the Tactical Operations Division. You will direct subordinates in conducting inquiries such as systems checks, biometric evaluations, and screening and vetting.

Qualification

To qualify for the GS-14 Supervisory Immigration Officer position, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the federal government. This experience must include providing technical oversight of screening activities, implementing national security program goals, leading teams on immigration policy, and supports relationships with law enforcement or intelligence partners.

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the federal government.
  • Experience providing complete technical oversight and operational guidance to staff conducting screening activities against law enforcement or intelligence data sources.
  • Experience implementing and monitoring national security or public safety program goals and suggesting corrective action in response to trends or legislative changes.
  • Experience leading teams in addressing immigration policy and procedural issues that strengthen national security or public safety.
  • Experience supports relationships with government officials from law enforcement agencies or Intelligence Community partners.
  • Current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service.
  • Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 07/24/2026.
  • No educational substitution at the GS-14 level.
  • This position is open to current USCIS employees with competitive status and USCIS CTAP or RPL eligibles.

Role Responsibilities

Serve as a supervisor under a Branch Chief within the Fraud Detection and National Security Directorate (FDNS).

  • Direct subordinates in conducting inquiries including systems checks, biometric evaluations, screening, and vetting.
  • Direct FDNS Immigration Officers and staff in developing USCIS anti-fraud, national security, public safety, and intelligence procedures and guidance.
  • Coordinate fraud, public safety, and national security initiatives with local, regional, and national USCIS offices and other law enforcement agencies and task forces.
  • Perform administrative, human resource management, and management functions.
  • Report to the Branch Chief and Deputy Division Chief.
Conditions & Requirements

Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.

  • Successfully pass a Background Investigation including financial disclosure.
  • Must pass a drug screening.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with the Selective Service.
  • Political appointees may require OPM approval before on-boarding.
  • Residency requirement: must have resided in the U.S. or worked for the U.S. Government overseas for three of the last five years immediately prior to applying.
  • May be required to serve a twelve-month supervisory/managerial probationary period.
  • Must complete an appropriate supervisory training course within one year of assignment.
  • Must possess a current valid driver's license.
  • This position IS NOT considered essential for purposes of reporting to work when the facility might otherwise be closed.
