Job Description
This Supervisory Logistics Management Specialist position is with the Air Force Elements, U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. You will plan, organize, and direct the activities of the Logistics Sustainment Division, Automatic Identification Technology (AIT)/In Transit Visibility (ITV) Implementation Branch.
Your role ensures branch personnel comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet customer needs. You will set short-term priorities, prepare schedules, identify employee developmental needs, and arrange training.
You will also establish and maintain working relationships with combatant commands, unified commands, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Joint Staff, military services, Defense Logistics Agency, General Services Administration, and commercial transportation organizations.
This role is ideal for experienced logistics professionals with a background in supply chain proven methods, business process management, and federal personnel supervision.
Salary & Compensation
Salary: $128,967 - $167,663 per year.
Qualification
To qualify at the GS-14 grade level, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. This experience includes researching, interpreting, analyzing, and applying supply chain proven methods within regulations, business process management, and business rules.
You must also have experience advising employees on policies and procedures, explaining performance expectations, and applying management concepts to blend technical disciplines into cohesive project plans.
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service.
- Experience researching, interpreting, analyzing, and applying supply chain proven methods while within regulations, business process management, and business rules.
- Experience advising and providing counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.
- Experience explaining performance expectations to employees and providing regular feedback on strengths and weaknesses.
- Experience applying knowledge of management concepts, principles, and practices to blend technical disciplines into a cohesive project plan.
- Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations.
- Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can translate directly to paid employment; you will receive credit for all qualifying experience.
- Education cannot be substituted for specialized experience at this grade level.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and direct the activities of the Logistics Sustainment Division, AIT/ITV Implementation Branch.
- Ensure branch personnel comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet customer needs.
- Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules.
- Identify employee developmental needs and provide or arrange for training (formal and on-the-job) to maintain and improve job performance.
- Establish, develop, and maintain effective working relationships with TCCs, Unified Commands, OSD, Joint Staff, Military Services, Defense Logistics Agency, GSA, and other DOD and Federal agencies.
- Provide deployment, distribution, and logistics expertise for joint capabilities development policy, issues, and processes.
- Apply supply chain proven methods, business process management, and business rules to logistics operations.
- Advise employees on policies, procedures, and directives of management; explain performance expectations and provide regular feedback.
Conditions & Requirements
- Suitable for Federal employment, determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
- May be required to travel by commercial or military aircraft in the performance of temporary duty (TDY/TAD assignments).
- May be required to participate in non-traditional work schedules involving round-the-clock operations or work beyond traditional hours.
- Telework eligible as determined by agency policy; situational telework may be authorized based on operational requirements.
- Overtime may be required occasionally.
