The Army Tank-Automotive and Armament Command (TACOM) is hiring a Supervisory Quality Assurance Specialist to lead quality assurance programs at Red River Army Depot (RRAD) in Texarkana, Texas. RRAD is a major maintenance depot responsible for repair, rebuild, overhaul, and conversion of tactical wheeled vehicles.
This role is ideal for experienced quality assurance professionals who want to supervise quality control operations, conduct audits, and drive continuous improvement in a federal depot environment.
As a Supervisory Quality Assurance Specialist, you will administer quality assurance programs by analyzing defects, recommending corrective actions, and supporting continuous improvement. You will supervise quality control operations, coordinate inspection activities, manage workloads, and ensure compliance with quality procedures.
You will also conduct quality audits, document deficiencies, review technical data, and provide technical guidance to ensure depot specifications are met. This position is located at Red River Army Depot, 19 miles west of Texarkana, near the corners of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas.
The role is full-time, term appointment (1 year 1 day, extendable up to 8 years), and does not offer telework or remote work.
Salary & Compensation
Salary: $89,508 - $116,362 per year.
Qualification
To qualify for this GS-12 Supervisory Quality Assurance Specialist position, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level. This experience includes making recommendations for process improvements, monitoring quality programs, reviewing technical data, and coordinating inspection activities.
No substitution of education for experience is permitted.
- One year of specialized experience at the GS-11 level that includes: 1) Making recommendations for process improvements and efficiency; 2) Monitoring quality programs and organizations for compliance; 3) Reviewing technical data to support production and procurement and to verify compliance with quality requirements; 4) Coordinating inspection activities and helping manage QC workloads to meet mission requirements.
- Time in Grade: Applicants who have held a GS position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade (GS-11).

Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in administering quality assurance programs by supporting quality planning, analyzing defects, recommending corrective actions, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts.
- Support supervisory quality control operations by coordinating inspection activities, helping manage workloads, providing input on performance matters, and ensuring compliance with established quality procedures and policies.
- Conduct quality audits, document deficiencies, recommend corrective actions, and collaborate with team members to ensure issues are addressed and quality standards are met.
- Review technical data and quality requirements, support production and procurement activities, evaluate inspection and test results, and provide technical guidance to help ensure compliance with depot specifications.
- Supervise quality control staff, including assigning work, evaluating performance, and providing training and guidance.
- Develop and implement quality assurance policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Coordinate with other departments and stakeholders to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare reports and presentations on quality metrics, audit findings, and improvement initiatives.
Conditions & Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance and access to the Depot Production Computer System.
- A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Travel up to 25% Temporary Duty (TDY) may be required.
- This position is supervisory; a one-year probationary period for supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
- Must successfully complete the Civilian Education System Course and the Supervisory Development Course within 12 months of assignment.
- Term appointment NTE 1 year and 1 day; may be extended up to 8 years with DoD approval.
- Direct deposit of pay is required.
- Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from DoD referral system for displaced employees.
- Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized.
