The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Office of Financial Management, Cost Accounting/Labor Distribution Division, Cost Accounting Branch is hiring a Systems Accountant in Washington, DC.
This role is a recognized subject matter expert position that provides leadership for highly complex and challenging activities under minimal direction.
You will apply legislative and executive guidance including FASAB concepts, Treasury and GAO guidance, and OMB circulars to implement FAA's cost accounting policies.
Qualification
To qualify for this FV J grade Systems Accountant position, you must meet the basic educational requirements and have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-I, FG/GS-13 level. This experience must demonstrate expertise in financial systems enhancements, financial statement preparation, and complex data analysis.

Role Responsibilities
Serve as a recognized subject matter expert in the Cost Accounting Branch (AFM-410).
- Provide leadership for highly complex and challenging activities under minimal direction of a manager or executive.
- Apply legislative and executive guidance including FASAB concepts and standards, Department of Treasury, GAO guidance, and OMB circulars to implement FAA's cost accounting policies, procedures, and practices.
- Interpret and adhere to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Act of 1990.
- Lead collaboration with the Financial Statements and Reporting Division (AFM-600) to produce the Statement of Net Cost.
- Produce standard and ad hoc cost managerial reports for the agency's Lines of Business (LOBs) and Staff Offices (SOs).
- Coordinate with the Office of Financial Management (AFM-1) and the Cost Accounting & Labor Distribution Division (AFM-400) to respond to requests for cost accounting information from internal and external stakeholders, including the FAA's CFO.
- Gather requirements for financial systems enhancements and conduct complex data analysis.
- Design, develop, test, and implement major enhancements to financial systems.
