The City of El Paso is hiring a Traffic Signs and Markings Worker to join its crew in El Paso, Texas. In this role, you’ll install and uphold traffic signs and manually note pavements along small arterial and collector streets or comparable low-traffic-density locations.

Salary & Compensation

Qualification
To qualify for this Traffic Signs and Markings Worker post, you need a combination of two years of general offerings perform or trades helper expertise. You must also possess a legitimate Texas Class C Driver's License or equivalent from another state by the time of appointment.
- Equivalent to a combination of two (2) years of general solutions operate or trades helper background.
- Sound Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state by time of appointment.
- Positions requiring a CDL or positions of a safety sensitive nature are subject to drug and alcohol testing under federal regulations.
- Aptitude to read maps and engineering drawings.
- Ability to get ready worksite measurements and locate postholes within specified distances.
- Capacity to assemble sign faces and fixtures.
- Aptitude to trim and trim metal pipe and angle iron for signposts, hangers, and frames.
- Capacity to paint angle iron and metal pipe.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Install and keep up signs, and manually label pavements along and at intersections of specified secondary arterial and collector streets or comparable reduced traffic density locations.
- Set up, and repair prefabricated traffic control, street label and data signs following relevant state and nearby regulations, and established department procedures.
- Assemble sign faces and fixtures.
- Slice and trim metal pipe and angle iron for signposts, hangers, and frames.
- Paint angle iron and metal pipe.
- Read maps and engineering drawings, arrange worksite measurements, and locate postholes within specified distances.
- Perform field work on a designated shift, and if assigned, lead field function.
- Make sure all perform complies with established rules and regulations.
Conditions & Requirements
- Must be fit to perform physical assignments such as lifting, cutting, and painting.
- Must be able to operate outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Must be capable to function a designated shift, which may involve evenings or weekends.
