Qualification
To qualify for this Traffic Signs and Markings Worker position, you need a combination of two years of general services work or trades helper experience. You must also possess a valid Texas Class C Driver's License or equivalent from another state by the time of appointment.
- Equivalent to a combination of two (2) years of general services work or trades helper experience.
- Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state by time of appointment.
- Positions requiring a CDL or positions of a safety sensitive nature are subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with federal regulations.
- Ability to read maps and engineering drawings.
- Ability to prepare worksite measurements and locate postholes within specified distances.
- Ability to assemble sign faces and fixtures.
- Ability to cut and trim metal pipe and angle iron for signposts, hangers, and frames.
- Ability to paint angle iron and metal pipe.
Role Responsibilities
Install and maintain signs, and manually mark pavements along and at intersections of specified minor arterial and collector streets or comparable low traffic density locations.
- Set up, and repair prefabricated traffic control, street name and information signs following applicable state and local regulations, and established department procedures.
- Assemble sign faces and fixtures.
- Cut and trim metal pipe and angle iron for signposts, hangers, and frames.
- Paint angle iron and metal pipe.
- Read maps and engineering drawings, prepare worksite measurements, and locate postholes within specified distances.
- Perform field work on a designated shift, and if assigned, lead field work.
- Ensure all work complies with established rules and regulations.
