Job Description

The West Virginia Department of Transportation (WVDOT) is hiring a Transportation Engineer Senior to act as the District 1 Bridge Engineer, serving Kanawha, Putnam, Mason, Boone, and Clay counties.

Qualification

Role Responsibilities

Serve as the District 1 Bridge Engineer for Kanawha, Putnam, Mason, Boone, and Clay counties.

  • Perform advanced engineering work in planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operation of highways and structures.
  • Make independent engineering decisions within the policy framework.
  • Assist in setting broad objectives and goals for engineering projects.
  • Supervise section activities and personnel in engineering and non-engineering areas.
  • Visit project sites to make on-site engineering decisions.
  • Train and evaluate personnel to ensure quality work.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate activities of subordinate personnel.
  • Review ongoing work at major decision points.
  • Perform related duties as required.
