The West Virginia Department of Transportation (WVDOT) is hiring a Transportation Engineering Technician Associate for the Mineral County District Construction Organization.
This entry-level position performs duties related to highway and bridge construction and maintenance, including planning, design, surveys, materials testing, construction inspection, utility placement and relocation, traffic operations, and bridge safety.

- Ability to perform standard sampling and field-testing of materials, including density tests for Portland Cement Concrete, bituminous mixtures, aggregates, quarries, and pits.
- Ability to conduct standard construction surveying, including instrument duties, staking, right-of-way identification, field book notes, and cross sections.
- Ability to enforce traffic controls during construction.
- Must be able to perform related duties as required.
Role Responsibilities
Conduct standard sampling and field-testing of construction materials.
- Perform density tests on Portland Cement Concrete, bituminous mixtures, aggregates, quarries, and pits.
- Conduct standard construction surveying, including instrument operation and staking.
- Identify and stake right-of-way boundaries.
- Reduce and check field book notes of standard surveys.
- Determine, plot, and check standard cross sections.
- Enforce traffic controls established during construction.
- Participate in a training program requiring 180 Technician Development Hours.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Conditions & Requirements
Must be able to work in a field environment on highway and bridge construction sites.
- Valid driver's license may be required.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
