Role Responsibilities

Perform basic sampling and field testing of construction materials using standard methods.

  • Assist in surveying, including Survey Helper duties, reducing and checking field notes of simple surveys.
  • Determine, plot, and check basic cross sections for highway and bridge projects.
  • Draft simple designs and tracings, including standard title and location sheets, plans, profiles, and survey notes.
  • Prepare standard summary sheets and estimated quantities for construction projects.
  • Draft property line plots and simple completed surveys.
  • Create simple maps, charts, graphics, and diagrams as needed.
  • Participate in the Technician Development training program to learn highway and bridge construction principles.
  • Assist with construction inspection, utility placement, and traffic operations tasks.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors.
Conditions & Requirements

Must be able to work full-time (40 hours per week) in Charleston, WV.

  • Must pass a background check and drug screening if required.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and on construction sites.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, and lift materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from the work site.
