Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) protect air travelers, airports, and aircraft at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) in Hebron, KY.

In this part-time, permanent position, you will operate screening equipment to detect dangerous objects in baggage, cargo, and on passengers, and prevent prohibited items from being carried onto aircraft.

Qualification

To qualify for the SV-D pay band (equivalent to GS-5/6).. You must meet one of the following: A) At least one year of full-time work experience in security.. Aviation screening.. Or as an X-ray technician; OR B) A high school diploma.. GED.. HiSET.. Or TASC certificate. Part-time and volunteer experience (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) is credited proportionally.

Role Responsibilities

Operate various screening equipment and technology to identify dangerous objects in baggage, cargo, and on passengers.

  • Prevent prohibited objects from being transported onto aircraft.
  • Perform physical searches including pat-downs and property searches.
  • Conduct bag searches and lift/carry bags, bins, and property weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Walk up to three miles during a shift and stand for prolonged periods (up to 4 hours).
  • Maintain physical agility to squat and bend.
  • Work various shifts, including overtime, as needed.
  • Travel for training (minimum 3 weeks, up to 6 weeks) away from the airport of record.
  • Occasional travel may be required after training.
  • Exposure to potentially lethal devices and dangerous chemicals is inherent in the position.
