This role is classified as exempt and at-will, and the selected applicant will be placed in a U.S. Department of Labor apprenticeship plan.
Salary & Compensation
Salary: $38,259 - $46,725 per year.
Qualification
You must can operate hefty equipment and perform physical labor. Background in highway maintenance or construction is preferred. A sound driver's license may be called for.
- Aptitude to run motorized highway maintenance equipment (skid steer, utility tractor, aerial bucket truck, front-end loader, tandem-axle truck, snowplow).
- Ability in making key repairs to highways, culverts, and bridge structures.
- Ability to perform small mechanical repairs in the field (changing tires, blades, filters).
- Expertise with equipment maintenance such as cleaning, lubricating, and checking fluid levels.
- Capability to perform flagging and erect traffic control signs and barricades.
- Physical capacity to shovel materials, wipe down culverts, mow, and brush trim.
- Willingness to operate in hazardous conditions and inclement weather.
- Must be eligible for placement in a U.S. Department of Labor apprenticeship scheme.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate motorized highway maintenance equipment such as skid steer, utility tractor, aerial bucket truck, front-end loader, tandem-axle truck, and snowplow.
- Build major repairs to highways, culverts, and bridge setups.
- Perform slight mechanical repairs in the field covering changing tires, blades, or filters.
- Carry out equipment maintenance: cleaning, lubricating, and checking fluid levels.
- Flag traffic and erect traffic control signs and barricades on construction and maintenance projects.
- Shovel materials, tidy culverts, mow, and brush slice.
- Perform other related duties as required.
