Youth Aide (Landscape & Learning)

Applicants must be youth ages 14-17 and reside within the City of Sacramento limits. No prior experience is required; training is provided.

• Ability to work outdoors in city parks performing physical tasks.
• Willingness to wear boots (hiking boots acceptable).

• Must be available Saturdays and Sundays, 8:00am
• 2:30pm.
• Must be able to work with adult-supervised crews.

Perform general park maintenance including weeding, trimming, and leaf removal.

• Conduct low limbing of trees and shrubs.
• Pick up trash and debris in park areas.
• Work as part of a crew under adult supervision.
• Participate in on-the-job technical training sessions.
• Develop essential employment and leadership skills.
• Follow safety guidelines and wear required footwear.
• Maintain a positive attitude and work ethic.

Must be a youth aged 14-17.

• Must reside within City of Sacramento limits.
• Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Must wear boots (hiking boots acceptable) during work hours.
• Must be available for the entire fall session on weekends.
• Must be able to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

Paid on-the-job technical training.

• Development of essential employment and leadership skills.
• Work experience in a city park setting.
• Opportunity to contribute to community beautification.
• Non-career part-time/seasonal position with flexible weekend schedule.

The fall session runs September 19 to November 22, 2026.

• Work schedule is Saturdays and Sundays, 8:00am
• 2:30pm (includes 1/2 hour unpaid lunch).
• Salary is $16.90 per hour.
• Youth Aides must wear boots; hiking boots are acceptable.
• The program is operated by the City of Sacramento Department of Youth, Parks, & Community Enrichment.
