The Metro of Norwalk is looking for a self-motivated Assistant Planner to join the Community Development Staff.
In this role, you’ll carry out routine and involved technical and skilled assignments in current and long-term planning, as well as grow related policies and regulations.
You’ll run assigned planning projects involving land use, populations, setups, economic activities, housing, transportation, and related subjects.
Qualification
To qualify for the Assistant Planner post, you must encounter the education and expertise conditions specified by the Town of Norwalk. This role requires a combination of training and know-how that reveals the capacity to perform the crucial responsibilities.
- Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with significant coursework in urban planning, geography, public administration, or a related field.
- One year of expert planning background is desirable.

- Insight of principles and practices of urban planning, zoning, and land use.
- Aptitude to analyze records, interpret laws and regulations, and get ready clear reports.
- Strong buyer service and interpersonal communication expertise.

Role Responsibilities
Conducts assigned planning projects involving land employ, populations, structures, economic activities, housing, transportation, and related subjects.
- Carries out primary research and confers with candidates and agency representatives to spot issues.
- Analyzes figures concerning related laws, ordinances, regulations, and policies.
- Supplies guidance and interpretation of codes and regulations enforced by the Planning Division.
- Prepares workforce reports, resolutions, and ordinances for Planning Commission and Metro Council.
- Reviews development proposals, site plans, and environmental documents for compliance.
- Assists the public with planning inquiries and permit submissions.
- Participates in long-range planning efforts such as General Strategy updates and precise schemes.
- Attends evening meetings as called for.
Conditions & Requirements
Must have a valid California Class C driver's license and uphold a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to take part in evening meetings occasionally.
- May want to pass a background inspect and drug screening.
- Must be capable to perform in an office environment and occasionally conduct field inspections.
