King County's Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS) is hiring an Equitable Access Manager (Project/Program Manager III) to lead investments in equitable access to behavioral health services.

This role sits within the Behavioral Health and Recovery Division (BHRD) and manages current and future strategies funded by the King County Behavioral Health Sales Tax Fund, which invests approximately $100 million annually.

The position is a Special Duty Assignment (SDA) expected to last 18 months.

Qualification

Candidates must have a combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree and at least four years of project or program management experience, including two years in a lead or supervisory role. Experience in behavioral health, equity work, or public sector contracting is highly valued.

  • Bachelor's degree in public administration, social work, public health, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum four years of project or program management experience.
  • At least two years of experience in a lead, supervisory, or managerial capacity.
  • Experience managing contracts or grants, preferably in a government or nonprofit setting.
  • Knowledge of behavioral health systems, equity frameworks, and racial justice principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience with budget management and financial oversight of programs.
Role Responsibilities

Manage the Equitable Access portfolio of investments funded by the King County Behavioral Health Sales Tax Fund.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor equitable access strategies and initiatives.
  • Oversee contract management, including scoping, procurement, and performance monitoring.
  • Collaborate with community partners, providers, and internal teams to advance equity goals.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and recommendations for leadership and funders.
  • Ensure compliance with county policies, funding requirements, and equity standards.
  • Supervise staff or lead cross-functional project teams as assigned.
  • Evaluate program outcomes and recommend adjustments to improve impact.
Conditions & Requirements

This is a temporary Special Duty Assignment (SDA) expected to last 18 months.

  • Ability to work onsite at the Chinook Building in Seattle, WA, with potential for hybrid work.
  • Valid Washington State driver's license or ability to travel within the county.
