Job Description
The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV) in Patuxent River, Maryland, is hiring a Supervisory General Engineer to lead the Systems Engineering Division within the Integration Department.
In this role, you will establish division policies, set priorities, and direct the development of program requirements for all Air Systems Group workload. You will also manage staffing, secure funding for facilities and test equipment, and identify risk mitigation actions.
This position is ideal for an experienced federal engineer or equivalent private-sector professional with a background in aviation systems acquisition and systems engineering who is ready to take on supervisory responsibilities.
Qualification
To qualify, you must meet the basic education requirements for professional engineering and have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the NM-04 pay band in federal service or comparable private/public sector experience. Specialized experience must include aviation systems acquisition, systems engineering processes, leading technical personnel, and identifying training needs.

- Must meet basic education requirements: a professional engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program, or equivalent coursework in engineering sciences, or current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or Professional Engineer (PE).
- At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NM-04 pay band in federal service or equivalent private/public sector experience.
- Specialized experience must demonstrate knowledge of aviation systems acquisition.
- Specialized experience must include utilizing systems engineering processes and procedures.
- Specialized experience must include managing and leading technical personnel.
- Specialized experience must include identifying development and training needs of employees and providing for such development and training.
- Volunteer work, including through National Service programs, is considered qualifying experience.
- Current federal employees must meet time-in-band requirements by the closing date.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
Role Responsibilities
Establish internal division policies and operating procedures and determine priorities.
- Lead the development of program requirements for all Air Systems Group workload.
- Develop plans and obtain funds for acquisition of facilities, test equipment, and software.
- Staff all positions within the Air Systems Integration Division.
- Identify and pursue risk mitigation actions and secure organizational support.
- Supervise technical personnel and manage human resources within the division.
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing to coordinate with stakeholders.
- Influence and negotiate to achieve division goals and objectives.
Conditions & Requirements
Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- This is a designated Critical Acquisition Position (CAP); you must sign a three-year tenure agreement unless a waiver is approved.
- Supervisors must review and adhere to the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
- Telework is eligible on an ad-hoc/situational basis at management discretion.
